About the Author

Suzanna Williams is a perpetually eighteen year old YA author who lives in the wild, wet, Welsh borderlands surrounded by ruined medieval castles and Celtic mythology where she looks for UFO’s amongst the stars and imagines all the people she meets have dark secrets.

When she is not inventing radical problems for her unsuspecting heroes and plotting their escape, Suzanna is a serial collector of random badly paying jobs and has never found a use for her BSc in Psychology whatsoever.

As a child, Suzanna filled notebook after notebook with stories and her first taste of writing success was a poem published in the local newspaper aged just nine years old. She has written and directed several plays and pantomimes before publishing her debut novel, ShockWaves, in 2012.

Suzanna loves sci-fi action adventures, playing the piano, believes Romeo and Juliet should have talked more and considers sarcasm to be the highest form of wit.

She has a daughter who is a drummer, another daughter who is a driving instructor, a son who is a dancer and a 'nearly' grandson she's dying to meet.

My Rating: 5 Cogs

My Review:
This is a new author for me.  Quite honestly, before I was approached for this book, I had never heard of her.  This lady is now my hero.  I swear, I'm a geek, and I love my sci-fi, but I'm a girl, and I love my romance.  No one seems to get this!  Ms Williams is a geek after my own heart, combining two of the things I love the most into one of the most fun, action packed romances.

I loved the characters.  It's not often that I read books with a male protagonist, but I feel that the author did well at writing a believable young man (although, I'm an old lady, so I could totally be wrong, I suppose).  One of the most interesting parts to me, was early in the novel, Sarah says that he shouldn't have saved her.  Now, if someone said that to me when I was a young lady, I'd be all over her trying to figure out what she's talking about, even though we all know, from reading the blurb.  Our clueless hero, Joe, doesn't even bat an eye.  I loved that.  It really sounds like a teenage boy to me.  Who cares?  I saved you, I'm a hero! Not that he says that.  His attention span really was congruent with the amount of work and responsibility that were on his shoulders.  He's a very mature young man, and Sarah's little bits of foreshadow really fall on deaf ears for him.

Honestly, I feel that my favourite character in this book wasn't Joe.  It wasn't even Sarah.  I loved Jake, the terrible pun-spewing geologist.  I don't want to do spoilers, but he really is a fantastic  person, and his jokes (although terrible) always made me laugh.  I love puns!  If there's another book, I demand more Jake!

I loved this book, and I can't recommend it enough.  This is one of the few books I can honestly say that I plan on reading again.  I'm not much of a rereader, but I loved this book so much, I feel that I have to read it again, just to make sure I didn't miss anything good. =)
